The Tragic campaign is over and Rook's new contract is just starting. The Sturgis contract with Spencer! *insert lovey eyes*3 months of Spencer painting her naked body and posing with his bikes. What she overlooked in her attempt to be "in control" of her life and be independent of Ronin was that she would also be filmed 24/7 for a T.V series.
Oh, the contract also gives her a producer... Spencer and Ronin's longtime friend/partner in crime, Ford * swoon*.
Ronin is off saving the day for Claire while she is in rehab most of the time, which leaves Rook with conflicting feelings about their relationship. Throw in her newly found relationships with Spencer and Ford, and things are bound to get a little messy for everyone.
Rook and Spencer have a very easy going friendship but Ford, he gets under her skin, frustrates her more than anyone and pushes her to do more but she can't help but gravitate towards him. I mean hello, he is Ford, and besides, he's feeling run a little more than just friendship. But when her past comes knocking, all three men in her life band together to keep her safe, at all cost.
"Your first impression of Spencer should be dumb…Your first impression of Ford should be well-dressed #asshole, but maybe a little on the weak side….Your first impression of me should be honest, trustworthy guy…Your first impressions would be #deadass wrong in all three cases."

Manic Rook and Ronin #2 J a Huss J a Huss 9781936413270 Books Reviews
I'm writing this review after completing the first three books in the Rook and Ronin series.
WOW ... okay well that wasn't expected. And I won't give any additional detail to what that means because I feel that going in blind will make it even better.
But I will say is that this series gets exponentially better with the arrival of "The Team". Spencer is so kind and loveable, you envision him as the motorcycle loving, artist, bad boy from next door. And then there is Ford. Why I always love the deeply emotionally detached ones the most, I will never know. But I do, and I freaking love Ford. The way they both interact with Rook is heartfelt. My feelings towards Rook and Ronin don't necessarily grow in this book, but they do warm quite a bit when it comes to their part of the whole group. We receive additional insight onto Rook's background and the ensuing nightmare that she has fought against. The way the team rallied around her and the ensuing actions absolutely made the book what is was. I highly recommend this series.
Rook and Ronin take on another contract that puts their relationship to the test. New key players are thrown in while others put nuances and kinks in the plans. An earth shattering truth is uncovered and alters everything.
The second in the series, Manic deals with some very tender topics and adds layers to the complexity of the characters.
Some bingewatch TV series, or movies. I binge read really great book series. And now, I'm hooked. Needless to say, I absolutely recommend reading this!
Rook and Ronin are not just about the romance. It is more about Rook leaving an abusive relationship and discovering who she is. I find that the romance takes a backseat to the story's adventure.
Rook is not an innocent bystander in her life. She has her secrets. They are big secrets. They are secrets that get tangled up with the men in her life and set the pace not just for the first 3 books, but for all the books.
The boys in the stories, Ronin, Ford and Spencer all have their secrets too. They are weaved and woven around Rook as tight as a tapestry that develops into an amazing story.
The series contains witty banter that will make you sequel like a teenager and laugh out loud. It has moments of swooning and vetting for your favorite man to win. It leaves you confused as to who should win Rook's love. It leaves you complete and happy for each character in the story. A full sense of completion and finality to these characters are felt at the end of Guns.
I can't discuss specifics without giving major plot spoilers away. Huss has a fabulous way of weaving the plots through these books, yet when you finished the first 3 of the Rook and Ronin series, you feel fulfilled for them, but wanting more of Ford and Spencer. Trust me, you will lust, lust, lust for the enigmatic Ford.
I spent an hour writing a thoughtful assessment of Rooks downward spiral of recklessnes!
After a modeling contract is accepted by Rook against the advise of business partners, she undergoes humiliating and degrading contractual obligations! The question remains why would she accepted the ill treatment throughout her young life? The answer, she compartmentalized the horrors in order to survve! She is experiencing the five stages of grief beginning with denial!. This bodes well for her future healing and acceptance!
When her savage husband comes for her, she knows he will hurt and kill her! She fights back!
That's the shortened review of the book. Maybe this version is better for it's brevity
